The Hope of the Church - Part 1
Pastor Verne begins a new series in First Thessalonians 1:1-2. The gospel is at the center of our hope and community. We’ll learn that as a church, we are partners in the gospel community (1:1a). This means that we deliver the gospel to the unbelieving. When someone receives the gospel, they join us in our community of faith. As a church, we are to place prevailing attention on grace and peace (1:1b). This is our experience in the gospel that continues now and for eternity. What is to be our preoccupation in the gospel community? Verse 2 indicates the kind of life we are called to live in the church. We are to live a thanksgiving and praying life. These two traits are to saturate and permeate the church. Is this the reputation of Foothill Bible Church? Is this your reputation as a Christian in the church? May we learn from the example of the Thessalonian church to display the gospel as the center of our hope and community.
