The Example of Hope
Pastor Verne teaching from First Thessalonians 1:7-8 on, “The Example of Hope.” These verses present two dynamic activities that were present in the Thessalonian Church. They are the activities of a God honoring Church and a pattern for our church. We’ll learn about Bible living (1:7) and Bible preaching (1:8). It is absolutely necessary that we implement God’s Word into our living. This is a way that we are witnesses of truth and light before the watching world. The content of our preaching must be the faithful declaration of God’s Word. “So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing, by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Faith is belief, trust, and dependence on the Word of God for doctrine and practice. The confident belief in the Bible and the careful application of the Bible are highlighted in these verses. First John 2:6 teaches, “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
