Good Friday takes us to the last day of Jesus when He died on the cross in our place and for our sins. The final earthly prayer of the Lord Jesus was a prayer of confidence according to Luke 23:44-46. On this last day of Jesus, we learn of His submission to the Father, unshaken trust of His Father, and His settled security in His Father. Death came accompanied with the darkness and the tearing of the temple veil. The darkness of sin and barrier that separated sinners from a holy God was remedied at the cross. Even as death came, so did life arrive in a centurion soldier who confessed that Jesus was truly the Son of God (Matthew 27:54). Good Friday represents that last day of Jesus when He died, was buried, and placed in the grave (23:50-56) for our sins and in our place. There at the cross, the innocent Savior died, forgiveness flowed, and the spotless Lamb displayed His precious love for us.
