As we gather to remember the glorious and miraculous resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 24:1-12). Jesus conquered death! Jesus conquered the grave! Jesus is alive! Pastor Verne will focus on the importance of properly responding to the resurrection (Luke 24:13-32). Because Christ is risen, you can be His disciple. After His resurrection, Jesus has a conversation with two men traveling from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Initially, these men did not know Jesus, did not recognize Him as a Prophet, and had hoped that Jesus was the Messiah. They were confused because of the crucifixion and empty tomb. Those events did not make sense to them. Though they had correct information, they were sad and confused. Jesus spoke to them, pointed out their sin, and presented the gospel. As disciples, we are to follow that example with those who do not believe. We pray for God to open their spiritual eyes that they may know Who Jesus is and believe on Him. This is the pathway to discipleship and the identity of the Christian. A disciple of Jesus has a passion to hear and apply the Bible to our living. This is what it means to be a Christ follower.
