The Beginning of the Thessalonian Church
The Apostle Paul was a man on the go (17:1). Why did he travel from city to city? It is because God led him. God’s people were led by God then and are led by God today. He was a man who spoke the Bible, spoke the gospel, and spoke to people (17:2-4). This is how the church at Thessalonica began and this is how our church began. This is also an example of what we are to be doing. God offers people salvation, forgiveness of sins, and the hope of heaven. It may seem that no one would reject such loving and gracious gifts. Yet, there are many who disagree and who even attack our faith in Jesus Christ (17:5-9). How are we to respond? We are to keep going and keep speaking God’s Word and the gospel. That’s what the Apostle Paul and Silas did. May God help us to go, to speak, and to keep on going and speaking.
