Resurrection Sunday - The Empty Tomb Speaks
Our focus on Resurrection Sunday is “The Empty Tomb Speaks” (Mark 14:42-16:8). We’ll give attention to the death of Jesus (15:37-41), the burial of Jesus (14:42-47), and climatically, the resurrection of Jesus (16:1-8). The incredible event of the resurrection was predicted by the Lord Jesus numerous times in the Gospel of Mark (8:31; 9:31; 10:33-34). The stone was rolled away not so Jesus could get out, but that His followers could get in and see that Jesus was not there because He is risen! He is risen indeed! The glorious resurrection of Christ opened the door to heaven and secured forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation to all who repent and believe. Jesus Christ was delivered up on the cross and rose again the third day for our justification (Romans 4:25). To God be the glory for so great a salvation through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ our Savior and Lord.
