Hope Like a Mother

Dec 1, 2024

What is to be an integral part of Christian living? We’ll learn from First Thessalonians 2:1-8 the answer, which is serving Christ. Hebrews 9:14 teaches that the forgiveness of our sins by the cleansing blood of Christ now directs us to serving the living God. We serve Christ out of gratitude, gladness, love and obedience.

First Thessalonians 2:1-6 expose how we are not to serve. The faults listed in those verses were not how the Apostle Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy served Christ. First Thessalonians 2:7-12 goes on to identify what the priorities of serving Christ looks like. This Sunday, we’ll consider the first priority, which is tender affection. Using the example of a mother, three words describe the tender affection of serving Christ. They are gentle, affectionate, and dear. These words describe how we are to be serving Christ.
